Alpen glow on Le Meije in the French Alps

Alpen Views

On the borders of Italy, France and Switzerland stand some of the Alps most magnificent peaks, including the tallest in Europe: Mont Blanc. In this rugged, prisitine, glacier occupied terrain we spent 18 days soothing our spirits with a magic mixture of  mountain essence. Saphire blue glacier lakes, golden eagles, glorius green alms, and snowwhite summits calmed our souls, and prepared us for the final and perhaps most difficult journey of our years travels: The return to reality.

A seven hour hike from 5500 feet to 9800 feet, in Italy's Grand Paradiso National Park, took us through the pass diplayed in the image above. The two pictures below, taken from the pass, show the valley we left on the left and the one we entered on the right.

Mountain Calls

Do you see me?
I hear the whispering of all your voices in my ear.
Do you hear me?
I feel your strength and permanence under my feet.
Do you feel me?
I see the beauty and brilliance of your snowy pinnacles.
My senses spin out of control, and my insignificance becomes clear while I stand within your sublime environs.
