Celebrating a Week of Peace and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in working for social justice through peaceful means. In 1959, he visited India, where he learned about Mohandas Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence. In honor of Dr. King, the staff of Measured Progress will practice a week of peace. During this time participants will strive to resolve problems at work and at home through peaceful means.
Since Measured Progress is closed on January 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Day, we will commence our week of peace on January 8. It will end on January 12. Measured Progress employees will have the opportunity to answer the following questions:
How do you personally define peace?
Why is Martin Luther King, Jr. important to you?
Who is carrying the Martin Luther King, Jr. torch today? Who in your personal life is carrying this torch?
Please send your answers to Steve Eaton. Responses will be posted on Insite and compiled in a book for sale at the end of 2007.
